Ambient Lighting is defined as the light present within the environment you are photographing. This could be the natural light while shooting outdoors, the light produced by various indoor light sources, or the combination of the two.
Natural Light
Natural lighting can be your best friend or your worst enemy! It all depends on the time of day and the cloud coverage overhead. I have found that the best times to shoot are sunrise & sunset, an hour before sunrise or sunset, and an hour after sunrise or sunset.
